Grazia Local: Blogger Stella Kattermann Tells Us About Her Favourite People And Places In South London

Posted on 04:35 by Unknown

In this week’s issue of Grazia you’ll find our latest Grazia Local feature – a fabulous eight pages of the best places to eat, shop, hang, party, drink and much more in North, South, East and West London. Many of the places in our top ten lists that have been recommended by you – our readers in the know – and you’ll find brilliant discounts and offers on them for a limited time only, so be sure to pick up a copy fast and get thee to London Town!

We’ve also recruited Grazia Local ambassadors – girls about town who know exactly where to pick up the best fashion buys or take your girlfriends to tea. Today's ambassador is Stella Kattermann of Stella's Wardrobe. The fashion blogger and history student may have a pet hate for cobbles, but certainly knows her way around South London. Here's her favourite places to visit south of the river...

1. Corsica Studios

Corsica studios was the launch pad for the now massive Boiler Room podcast and it still hosts the world’s top DJs, so it’s one of the best places in London to see electronic music. Unpretentious and intimate, it is a place where it doesn’t matter what you wear or who you are with as long as you appreciate good music.

2. Wishbone

Fried chicken has hit Brixton big time with the brilliant Wishbone opening in the ever expanding and vibrant Brixton market. With some of the team behind Meat Liquor involved, Wishbone was bound to be junk food perfection with chicken truly the star of the show here. Whether Korean style wings or Thai style thighs this is finger licking good and with sides like deep fried mac n cheese (which is truly addictive) this may not be healthy fare but addictively good and the obsession of every South London foodie at the moment.

3. Brockley Market

Open on Saturday mornings, this smaller and less known alternative to Borough Market has become a bit of a culinary hotspot. Whether you fancy artisan meatballs from the Bowler, a breakfast burrito from Luardos or juicy bacon burgers from the Motherflipper, this local market has all the choice without the crowds that you have to fight through at more famous food markets. It’s the perfect place to spend a Saturday morning wandering around and drooling over the food on offer. One word of advice though, arrive hungry to try as many of the trader’s offerings as you can fit in!

4. José

Located on picturesque Bermondsey Street, in the shadow of the city and its tall glass buildings, and in a wonderfully refurbished brick corner building, José serves some of the best Tapas London has to offer. It is a real joy to share and taste their variety of tapas dishes with a local twist, decently priced and portioned, that encapsulate the flair of the Spanish cuisine perfectly. This little bit of Spain in London offers the perfect setting and food to escape the British winter and has truly converted me to tapas, a real south London gem.
